Many projects are in the beginning stages for both Asheboro, Randolph County and our local area. Asheboro is playing a major role in the creation of new jobs that will change the financial lives of our entire population.
Unlike many municipalities, Asheboro is blessed to have positive working relationships with our county, state and federal governments. Communication is vital to all relationships and long-term, experienced relationships are necessary to make certain that we work together for the good of our community.
With growth comes greater needs for public safety and security. Recently, many issues have developed as our community is experiencing growing pains. We provide a great deal of resources toward public safety through police, fire, and inspections.
We must continue to make certain that citizens and visitors to Asheboro are safe. As we grow as a tourist destination and a home for new technologic industries, safety must continue to be a priority.
When I first began serving on the Asheboro City Council, Forbes magazine declared our city as the “4th Fastest Dying City In America.” That was unacceptable to me and every citizen in Asheboro. We put together a strategic plan, rolled up our sleeves and went to work. We cleaned up areas detrimental to our plans, invested public resources to appeal to private investments in revitalizing downtown, and grew our quality of life amenities to attract industries and retailers looking for opportunities to grow. We have applied smart financial decisions with common sense approaches to help us grow into an All-America City for which our citizens can be proud. We are on the cusp of more great opportunities and experienced leadership is required to assure we attain our desired destiny.
Quality of life enhancements in Asheboro are what help make our city a place in which people enjoying living and desire to visit.
Investments in recreational amenities, the arts, community concerts, and services for our younger and older people are important factors for attracting new jobs developing pride in our city.
Personally, I’m very conservative with my finances and I have the same respect for your tax dollars as I have for my own. This practice began many years ago as I was charged by my business clients with negotiating their marketing budgets as if they were my dollars. Similar to most people, I like to get the best deals I can and I try to do this for our city within the parameters set by the state. I do understand that at times the best ways to save are to take advantage of opportunities when the time is right. We will continue to run Asheboro with the same award-winning, financial integrity that was instilled from our conservative heritage.
